GOALS
Within the next two years, the IDEA will focus on, and be advocates for:
· Improving the level of support for at-risk students
· Increasing the availability of Inuktitut in our schools
· Undertaking research and collecting data, in an effort to inform ourselves on the performance of our schools
In addition to these three core areas of focus the IDEA will strive to see improvements in the following areas:
· Increasing the funding available to our schools
· Ensuring our schools are providing all students with: 1) an understanding of their important role as citizens, 2) an understanding of their responsibility for their own actions, 3) a respect for the ideas and beliefs of others, and 4) an understanding of social justice and human rights.
· Continually evaluating and developing standards to improve our school environment and facilities
· Raising the profile of the IDEA’s role in improving public education in Iqaluit
· Increasing parent involvement within the schools
